Microgreens are baby plants that have been grown from seed to right around when the first true leaves appear. They have more concentrated nutrients than mature greens and are a great source of antioxidants.
How we grow
We have expanded our grow area and are now able to grow a much larger volume for local restaurants. We grow our microgreens in a potting mix that uses locally sourced certified compost, vermiculite and coconut coir. Whenever possible we use organic seeds, and we package the microgreens in recyclable/compostable plant based plastic containers.
If you are a chef in the Durham area, and would like to include locally grown microgreens in your menu items, we would love to hear from you and bring you some samples to try. We currently grow and keep seed in stock for-
· Rainbow chard
· Red garnet mustard
· Cinnamon basil
We are in the process testing some other varieties of microgreens including cilantro, nasturtiums and some brassica mixes.
